About the data

Our data comes from police.uk. Locations are approximate, so each crime is shown near where it happened rather than at the exact spot. Records also arrive about a month late. Night Watch shows you what has happened, not what will happen tonight, so stay alert.

Night Watch began with a simple question: why should getting home at night feel like a gamble? So we built a map that uses real police records to see the city's dark corners, then plans a route through the streets that are busier, better lit and safer.
